You can tick the box in the bottom left of the pop up window to set Zoom to automatically join your audio each time you join a meeting in future. Follow the prompts, if you hear the ringtone then your speakers are working. If you do not hear the ringtone then click no and Zoom will proceed through your speaker options until you can hear.

You should also check the volume on your computer, in case this is down very low and needs to be raised. When testing your microphone, speak and then pause. If you hear your voice played back then this means that your microphone is working.

If you do not hear your voice played back, press no and Zoom will work through the other options to find a working microphone. Once these testing steps are completed, then Zoom will let you know that you are good to go! A box will pop up where you can change your selected speaker and microphone and test them again, adjust the speaker volume and adjust your microphone.

Tip: You should always test your audio devices to ensure that they are working prior to joining or hosting a new meeting. In the Audio Settings menu, you can select which speakers or microphone that you would like to test, as well as adjust volume on these devices. Follow the instructions on your screen to call a phone number for the country you are in, enter the meeting ID and participant ID when prompted.

These simple steps should help you to set up and troubleshoot any sound issues prior to joining or within a Zoom Meeting. If you experience any further issues please contact the econferencing team on 03 or econferencing otago. You can also switch to phone audio if needed. Search Search Search. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. My computer is acting very strange. When I go into the control panel, I have two headsets show up. If I try to set this as the default, I can not hear anything else while the zoom meeting is running, the test tone will not play, and the volume mixer simply will not work.

If I set this as the default device, however, all my problems are solved except that the audio quality is very poor and there is always static in the background. I don’t think there is any solution to this, just wanted to let you know in case my headphones are bad or this is not supposed to happen.

Edit: the “stereo” headphones bring up the quality significantly and the volume mixer works with it but only when I’m not in a zoom meeting. Could you explain how you changed the audio input device to the same as system for both microphone and speakers? I had the same problem. I solved this by changing the audio input device to same as system, both microphone and speakers. Hi Bhavesh,. I had the same problem I tried to solve this using Bhavesh’s method it did not work I still don’t know how to solve this.

I tried many ways like messing with audio settings but still it did not work. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. This does not mean that I cannot hear other participants in the meeting, just that if there is another app with audio playing at the same time, I cannot hear it.

I don’t know anyone else with this problem and can’t find any help on this issue on the Zoom help website. I use a Bluetooth headset, and all my drivers are up to date.

I can hear sounds from other apps only when I am not in a meeting. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. In reply to FelipeAD83’s post on November 17, Yes, both the general and audio settings, and have seen nothing pertaining to my problem. I even tried just toggling random settings off one at a time, and nothing changed. If this helps, when I go to the get help link in the windows audio settings, it plays a tone to check if there are any audio problems. This is the only other sound I can hear in a meeting.

Even discord pings are silent in a meeting. Ok then, Let’s try this: Method 1: Try to run the troubleshooter for apps to diagnose the exact issue. Method 2: Check the volume settings. Please follow the steps below and see if it helps. Right click on the speaker icon in taskbar and select volume control options. Put a check mark on “All devices currently playing sound”. Make sure you have “The default communication device unchecked”. Place a check mark on both speakers and headphones.

Click Apply and OK. Hope that fix it for you! Let me know if you need anymore help! I couldn’t follow the exact steps, but messing with the sound settings fixed my problem! That’s great! Have a great day!
