Thanks for your suggestion. Nonetheless, I tried the different options suggested in this document to no avail. I also tried to get someone else more technologically advanced than I to help. Additional info that may be helpful in diagnosis, based upon his questions and input:.

Suggestion was to download the latest driver 7. I did; did not fix the problem. There are no embedded or sophisticated macros or items in the older document, or special effects, etc. Is there some sort of conflict between older Word documents and Windows 10?

If you have other suggestions, please offer them. I’ve been trying to troubleshoot this for days now. I appreciate your help. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Nell Adkins. Whenever I flip the Thinkpad into tablet mode, I start constantly getting the “Word not Responding” error message after about 10 minutes of working in tablet mode. It hangs up for a few minutes, then stops and I continue, and then it stops responding again.

This happens over and over and is very frustrating. Seems to have started happening after the most recent round of automatic updates, but I can’t be sure.

Very frustrating, and the primary reason I bought this laptop is to be able to use it in tablet mode in Word. I have done the simple repair and the longer online repair, with no discernible result. Not a techie. Please give me some other ideas about what to do to remedy this. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. Hi Nell, It sounds like the cause of this issue is related to some updates or programs installed on your PC. We would like to ask some questions to know the best possible resolution to offer: Have you tried running the troubleshooter for Windows apps? Have you tried restarting your Word in Safe Mode? If no, kindly check this link as a guide on how to open Office apps in safe mode. Have you tried performing a system restore? This option takes your PC back to an earlier point in time.

Kindly check this link to know how to restore from a system restore point in Windows Have you tried performing a clean boot? This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows We’re keeping an eye to your reply regarding this issue.

How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to Nathaniel Mon’s post on April 2, Thanks for your suggestions. The troubleshooter tells me that it isn’t able to fix all identified errors. I need a Microsoft account, or something?

When I try to do a system restore, I get through Control Panel, choose backup and restore, and there is no backup, or option to do a system restore at that point.

I don’t seem to be able to specify an earlier point in time to restore it to. I identified it as a potential operation to try, but don’t seem to be able to execute the process.

Saw this on a Youtube video, but the system restore does not start automatically for me, as it did for the guy in the Youtube video. If I restore it to an earlier point in time, won’t it just update again automatically and then I’ll be at the same point again as before the system restore? I have not tried a clean boot or starting word in safe mode. Will try those if I can figure out how to. Thanks again.

Thanks for your response. It does happen only in tablet mode. But it worked fine for several months, used on a daily basis in this way, until the past couple of weeks when this began happening. That’s what makes me think it’s related to the recent Windows updates. But I don’t seem to be able to do a system restore to before the updates to test that theory. Opened Word in safe mode. Performed beautifully in tablet mode with no error messages. So, what does that mean for me? Do I always just use Word in safe mode?

Or is there some repair I can make, based on this info? In reply to Nell Adkins’s post on April 2, Works fine in tablet mode with no error message in safe mode of Word. What does that mean that I need to do then? Additional info that may be helpful in diagnosis, based upon his questions and input: 1 I am using a Wacom pen that came with the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga. In reply to Nell Adkins’s post on April 4, Well, scratch that. I’m now getting the error message in a Word created document, just as I am in older Word created documents.

I do not get the error message whenever I work in safe mode of Word. I also did another online repair of Word reinstall of Office after I installed the new pen driver. No effect. This site in other languages x.
