You boot up, and you’re probably in your desktop monitor. Right-click on the desktop and choose Properties. Choose Settings. You’ll see a second screen. Drag it to a position similar to where your laptop screen is. In the display arrangement diagram, drag your displays to the relative positions you want.

The numbers on the diagram are shown at the top-left of each display when the Displays panel is active. The primary display is the one with the top bar , and where the Activities overview is shown. Click Apply. The new settings will be applied for 20 seconds before reverting back.

Click the “Advanced display settings” link located at the bottom of the dialogue box. Click the “Resolution” drop-down menu and select your desired resolution.

Click the “Multiple displays” drop-down menu and choose from the following options Select “Duplicate these displays” to enable the secondary monitor display to mirror the primary monitor display.

Select “Extend these displays” to expand your desktop across each monitor. A number appears on the screen of the display it is assigned to. Select and drag the display to the desired position and select Apply. The Windows 11 task tray, Quick Settings, and calendar will always display on the main monitor.
