The one and only reply instructed me to do something I’d already done, and it once again didn’t work. Hi All I battled this issue for some time – I then fiddled some more and found the solution for me to get my external display back to x was to press on the windows button and P, “Project” and I chose the “second screen only”.
Voila my screen is full!! Hope this helps. Of course, your monitor will need to support that resolution before you can change it. For example, a monitor that only supports a resolution of x or P will not be able to run at x as it does not support that high of a resolution.
Follow the steps below to open the display settings and change to x resolution. Click the Windows icon on the taskbar. Locate the Settings app icon and select it. Click Display to open the display settings. Select x resolution from the drop-down menu to the right to commit to the changes. The reasoning for this is the display you are working on does not actually support x resolution.
Under Scale and layout , use the drop-down menu to adjust text and app size. Use the drop-down menu under Display resolution to adjust screen resolution. Go to Settings and search for calibrate color display to adjust your color calibration.
Ok so i’ll give you some context. So normally i have my computer in the x resolution and all is swell but the other day i factory reset my computer because it was running slowly, maybe because of all the crap i have downloaded over the years, and i don’t regret my decision as it now runs perfectly. Since factory resetting, i have not been able to make my screen resolution x but i’m instead at x and that is the highest i can go and it looks horrible. You see, i’m in no way a tech guy so as you can imagine, it is driving me crazy as to why it has done this when it was fine before and why i can’t fix it after all of my googling.
As mentioned before i have spent a good couple of hours googling my problem but to no avail. Any help with the matter would be appreciated and like i said before i am not good with computers so if big words are gonna be used, please elaborate.

The correct term when referring to screen resolutions is pixels per inch PPI. With higher pixel densities, you get more pixels packed into every square inch of your laptop screen. The result is sharper, better-looking images. Pixel density is one of the most significant factors used in determining image quality. Say you have two laptop screens standing side by side; one is 15 inches and the other is 17 inches. Now imagine having the same number of pixels spread across each of these screens.
Which one do you think will have clearer images and smoother lines? The smaller screen will have a higher pixel density resulting in sharper images and smoother videos. The size of the screen is important when deciding on the best resolution. It also takes into account display scaling and aspect ratios. These values are pre-determined by the manufacturer to make the most of your laptop.
The reason for this is that greater resolution means larger images. There are always limitations to what our output devices can offer. They indicate the direct relationship between the height and width of the monitor. Read ahead to find out more about each aspect ratio.
